Author Topic: NHD-0420DZW-AY5 vs 763-NHD-0420CW-AY3 for brightness and power consumption  (Read 1666 times)

I am considering using either of these 4 X 20 displays. I note that the CW-AY3 is brighter but more power consumption, as you would expect.  Would like to maximize battery life and use the DZW-AY5, but wonder if it is sunlight readable?  Or should I go with the CW-AY3 to ensure sunlight readable.  Also, can the brightness be dimmed on either of them to save some power?

Hi,

You can control the brightness of the NHD-0420CW-AY3. While it is brighter neither of these displays will be sunlight readable.

For sunlight readability and reduced power consumption I would recommend a traditional LCD display.
With the exception of the two negative displays (Blue background with white text) these will all be sunlight readable:
