cold weather pproblems
« on: January 31, 2017, 09:40:44 AM »
Hello, I am using a Monochrome 2.3" 128x32 OLED Graphic Display (Part#NHD-2.23-12832UCB3) in a portable piece of equipment. All worked well with the display until I tried to use the device outside lately (winter). For some reason the OLED fails to initialize properly (blank or garbled screen), in cold (<5 C, 41 F). I started testing device by putting it in my freezer to confirm my suspicions. As soon as the unit warms up it works fine again.

Has anyone experienced this problem or can think of a reason for these results? I tried sealing the display with conformal coating thinking the moisture was causing the problem. Another thought is perhaps my timing is so close to limits that the cold is slowing something down just enough to cause issues.

Any thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

Cheers

James
