Hi Tim,

The IS, RE and SD bits are flags that are internal to the controller. You would set these using the commands that have the flag in as one of their parameters.

To set the RE & IS flags, you would use the Function Set Command:

You could only set the IS flag if the RE Bit is low.

(See Image2.png)

To set the SD flag, you would first need to enter the Extended Command Set by setting the RE bit high, then using the OLED Characterization Command to set the SD Bit high:

To verify please check the datasheet for the I2C devices on your PCB  ;)

On the NHD-0420CW-AY3 module there is an address-select line (Pin 4). For troubleshooting purposes you can try to tie the address-select line (Pin 4) HIGH 3.3V. Please note that you will probably have to cut a pin / trace since your schematic shows it tied to GND. Finally, be sure to update the displays I2C Slave address to 0x3D in your software.

What value pull-up resistors do you have on the SCL and SDA lines?
 
Has the timing been verified on an oscilloscope?

Hi Balzs,

The NHD-1.27-12896UGC3 module is mounted in the correct orientation, which is always a good start  8)

At this time I'm not entirely sure what is causing the stretched / misaligned text. There obviously is an issue with the initialization sequence that needs to be pin pointed.

Hi Newto,

I believe the WiFi/Bluetooth pins were taken from the 10/100 Ethernet pins (don't quote me on that)...

The BeagleBone Black Wireless is still fairly new to me, I'll have to do some additional testing to confirm  ;)

The NHD-FT81x-SHIELD is compatible with a wide range of Arduino and Arduino clones, however there are some which are not compatible. The NHD-FT81x-SHIELD requires 5V to be supplied from the Arduino itself, and some Arduino clones, specifically 3.3V versions such as the Arduino Pro 3.3V, feature 3.3V on the pin typically specified as being 5V.
